What Happened to The New York Times’ Grand Podcast Ambitions?

A few weeks back, The New York Times announced plans for a standalone audio app, a home not only for the Times’ own audio products—such as its flagship show The Daily—but also those it recently acquired. The “listening product”—currently in closed beta—features narrations from Audm (which the Times bought last year) and shows by Serial Productions (which the Times also bought last year).
