The Snubs and Surprises of the Oscar Shortlists

We’re one step closer to knowing the 2023 Oscar nominees, with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences releasing its shortlists for 10 categories on Wednesday. Every year, the Academy announces shortlists for documentary and international features as well as documentary short subject, makeup and hairstyling, original score, original song, animated short, live-action short, visual effects and sound ahead of nominations voting.
