The New York Stock Exchange Today, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is one of the largest stock exchanges in the world. Its earliest beginning was a meeting of 24 stockbrokers under a tree in 1792, on what is now known as Wall Street in lower Manhattan, New York City.
