THE longest partial lunar eclipse of the century was visible across the US overnight. The eclipse involved the Earth’s shadow covering about 97 percent of the full Beaver Moon. It began at 1am ET and the moon started turning red around 3.45am ET. The eclipse finally passed around 4.30am ET, making it a glorious three-and-a-half-hour event for those able to stay up.
