Joan Didion’s Celine Sunglasses Sold for $27,000 in an Estate Sale

Joan Didion, the critically-acclaimed writer of The White Album and The Year of Magical Thinking, sadly died on December 23, 2021 age 87. This week an estate auction was held to sell off her belongings including a signature pair of large frame Celine sunglasses, similar to a pair she wore for the fashion house’s 2015 campaign. The live online and telephone auction was run by Stair Galleries in Hudson, New York which originally valued the sunglasses between $400 and $800.
