In The Face of War, Ukrainian Art and Artists Defy the Impossible
A day after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, Kyiv-based curator Maria Lanko put a small suitcase and three boxes of copper funnels into her car’s trunk and drove west. The traffic was packed on the way out toward the Ivano-Frankivsk region, but she managed to drive until a small village in Pavshyno, where a friend hosted her for a couple of nights.
