Ukraine Wins Eurovision With Heartstring-Pulling Folk-Rap
Kalush Orchestra, a Ukrainian folk-rap group, won the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday. The 66th edition of the competition completed in Turin, Italy, with Ukraine coming out on top of 40 competing nations. The winning (and extremely catchy) song, “Stefania,” was written in honor of the group members’s mothers. Given public sentiment for Ukraine following Russia’s recent invasion, it is not surprising that they might have an edge in the voting.
